Tunis….. Three Cities in One!
Tunis….. Three Cities in One!
Dear tourist, have you ever thought of a journey to the verdant Tunis?
If the answer is no…. then, I invite yous to visit Tunisia, a wonderful Arab country and enjoy its spectacular natural scenes as well as its rich and diverse civilization.
Tunisia has the smallest area among Northern African countries, with green plains covering the northern part. It features also thick mountain chain. Forests of pine, cork and oak line the impressive rock coast notable for its its pink coral reefs and stretching sand shores.
If you are fond of sunbaths, you’d better go to “Susah and Munastir”– the most famous and remarkable sea resorts that are blessed with the sun and warm water in the Gulf of Hammamet.
As a starting point, you can visit Tunis, the modern capital of Tunisia. It has clear Eurpoean features, with wide streets, state-of-the-art buildings and noisy coffee shops.
On the other hand, tunis is a prominent example of an ancient Arab city, where you are thrilled by narrow zigzags having small shops, big mosques and prestigious palaces on both sides.
You can also visit Carthage, an ancient city on the Bay of Tunis, where monuments are surrounded by villas that are ornamented by flowers.
Dear tourist, even if there is no enough time, you can explore the whole city of Tunis in just a day and a half.
Now we move to Al Zaytouna Street, the main street in the old town having on each side small stores for handicrafts and souvenirs. The street is also full of inchanting frankincense and perfumes as well as the distinctive smell of roasted mutton and freshly-ground coffee. Here, you go on a dark, narrow pathway until you are at the door of Al Zaytouna Street.
As a tourist, you should never miss the opportunity of buying souvenirs before leaving Tunis. The best place to do so is the old souks of Tunis, Susa, Al Qayrawan and the Souk Quarter. Shops usually open from 8:00am until 12:30pm, and then from 2:00pm until 6:00pm.
Dear tourist, if you feel hungry, you’d better go to a restaurant and have couscous, a traditional Tunisian main dish consisting of pasta steamed with a meat and vegetable stew. Every housewife in Tunis makes her own couscous dish.
In conclusion, the journey to Tunisia is such an exciting experience that tourists are motivated to visit it again from time to time. It is abundant in diverse historic monuments as well as marvellous tourist attractions that appeal to visitors from all over the world.
